Randal McCloy, Mining Explosion Survivor, Still Hoping to Live

Story link

Our Holy Spirit asks this prayer:

Randal McCloy, There is a Light in you Which cannot die, Whose Presence is so holy that the world is sanctified because of you. All things that live bring gifts to you, and offer them in gratitude and gladness at your feet. The scent of flowers is their gift to you. The waves bow down before you, and the trees extend their arms to shield you from the heat and lay their leaves before you on the ground that you may walk in softness, while the wind sinks to a whisper around your holy head.

Okay, I've stopped by here for entertainment now and again, but this post really upsets me.

First, you are a fraud with an agenda. To claim you speak with God's Voice is blasphemy. Even if the biblical god existed the idea that his son would be speaking through a blogger on the internet is beyond absurd.

Second, to single out the sole survivor and raise him above the others as righteous and holy is a slap in the face to every widow, child, family member, and friend of those that were lost. If his survival was a miracle of your god, a god that stood by and watched the others die, your god is weak and cruel.

Third, this whole event makes one point perfectly clear: Intercessory prayer is illogical from a religious or secular viewpoint and is completely ineffective.

Dave, I re-read the Holy Spirit's message and do not see that the Holy Spirit would not say the same thing about others, in fact about everyone, in fact about you. Let's see how it sounds. Dave, There is a Light in you Which cannot die, Whose Presence is so holy that the world is sanctified because of you.

That's better! I already knew that about me. :-) It is comforting to know you feel the same way about those whose lives were taken despite the millions of prayers asking otherwise. You do know what is best afterall, don't you?
